Asian Aviation Centre
Asian Aviation Centre (Pvt) Limited (AAC) was registered as a private limited liability company in 1985 to operate a flying training school to provide ab-initio flight training. In 1990, the company commenced a course of studies to train students to sit for the examination conducted by the Director General of Civil Aviation of Sri Lanka for the issue of Aircraft Maintenance Engineer's (AME) Licence Without Type Rating (LWTR).
AAC was bought over by Lionair Group in 1995. With the change of the Management, it created two distinct schools - The Asian Aerospace College - Flying School and the Academy of Aeronautical Engineering - Engineering School. These two schools were subsequently re-named as AAC Flight Academy and AAC Engineering Academy, respectively.
Today, AAC’s operations consists of four business units, the AAC Flight Academy – flight training arm, AAC Engineering Academy – engineering education and technical training arm, AAC Technical Services – the Aircraft Maintenance Organization and the AAC Aviation Services - the commercial flight operation arm of AAC.
AAC presently has IS-66 Maintenance Training Organization (MTO), IS-145 Aircraft Maintenance Organization (AMO) and IS-M Continuing Airworthiness Management Organization (CAMO) approvals and Flying School Licence No 5 from Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka.
It has collaborative partnerships with Kingston University of London, UK, University of the Highlands and Islands of Inverness, Scotland, UK, Aviation Australia of Brisbane, Australia and Seneca Polytechnic of Toronto, Canada, through which AAC offers wide range of opportunities in professional training and higher education for Sri Lankan and regional students.
AAC Flight Academy
AAC Flight Academy (AACFA) is the oldest operational flying training school in Sri Lanka and is the successor to the flying school of CDE Flying School. AACFA is approved as an Approved Training Organization (ATO) by the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka and holds the ATO Licence No .05 for the delivery of flight training courses and IS-M Continuing Airworthiness Management Organization (CAMO) approval from Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka as the operator of the aircraft under the ATO.
AACFA is based at the Asian Aviation Centre complex at the Colombo International Airport, Ratmalana where the theoretical knowledge training and flight training activities are carried out. AACFA has trained a number of International students from Germany, United Kingdom, Nigeria, Malaysia, India, Switzerland, Holland, Iran, Norway, Singapore, South Africa, Korea and Maldives, in addition to large numbers of local students, up to CPL/IR, Frozen ATPL and Multi Engine Rating. It has also successfully provided Basic High Training for two intakes of cadets of Sri Lanka Air Force.

AAC Engineering Academy
AAC Engineering Academy (AACEA) is the successor to Academy of Aeronautical Engineering and provides undergraduate academic qualifications in Aerospace Engineering and IS-66 aircraft maintenance basic training leading to Aircraft Maintenance Licences, in addition to other study / training programmes in engineering. AACEA has a long established collaborative partnership with Kingston University of London, UK and holds IS-147 Maintenance Training Organization (MTO) approval from Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka for the delivery of B1.2 IS-66 Basic Training course.
In 1996, AACEA signed an agreement with one of the most prestigious universities of UK, the Kingston University, to offer a degree course in Aerospace Engineering, leading to the award of a BSc (Hons) in Aerospace Engineering in a 2 + 1 arrangement. AACEA successfully offered an Australian Aircraft Maintenance Training Course leading to a Level IV Certificate qualification in collaboration with Regency Institute of TAFE and Kangan Batman Institute of TAFE of Australia from 1999 to 2010, until the qualification expired. AACEA’s Holiday Course - Basics in Aviation, is a very popular holiday programme amongst school children in Sri Lanka.
AAC Aviation Services
AAC Aviation Services (AACAS) is the flight operation arm of the Asian Aviation Centre and offered its Piper Seneca II aircraft for domestic charter flights. Presently, the flight operations are temporary suspended due to un-serviceability of the aircraft and AACAS intends to resume operations in the near future.
AAC Technical Services
AAC Technical Services (AACTS) is the aircraft maintenance service provider of the Asian Aviation Centre. AACTS is a Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka approved IS-145 Aircraft Maintenance Organization (AMO) and the technical maintenance of AACFA’s Cessna 152 training aircraft are performed by AACTS. AACTS provides Lead Acid and Nickel-Cadmium battery charging and servicing facility to majority of the operators at the Colombo International Airport, Ratmalana.
